A True Houston Gem — Jane & The Lion Bakehouse Is One of a Kind I am just now getting to write a review...but I’ve followed Jane’s journey for coming up on 10 years, and watching her rise has been nothing short of inspiring. Jane is the kind of chef who makes you feel something with her food — not just “this tastes good,” but “this was made with heart.” She is fierce in the kitchen in the best way: bold flavors, fearless creativity, and an unmatched attention to detail. Her skill shows up in every pastry, every loaf, every locally sourced bite. But what truly sets Jane apart is her kindness. She pours so much of herself into her craft and into her community, and you feel it the moment you walk into her bakehouse. Supporting Jane has always felt like supporting a dream that keeps getting bigger and better. She’s the kind of chef you root for — because she’s talented, yes, but also because she’s genuine. If you haven’t tried her creations yet, you’re missing out. Period. Jane, thank you for sharing your gift with all of us. It’s been an honor to follow your journey!

Can’t say enough lovely things about this place! Delicious nutritious menu with the best homemade sourdough breads. Rotating menu so you’ll never get bored. Cozy indoor seating as well as cute outdoor tables for days without seeing beautiful weather. The staff is always super sweet and helpful too. My new favorite place!!

This was my first time going here and I can’t wait to go back! The food was delicious, and I loved all the little details around the place. Although I will say the inside is small so finding seating was hard. They have outside seating as well. Shoutout to the restrooms having a changing station for my baby girl

I recommend this place to everyone! The artful curated vintage pieces adorning the interior is gorgeous. Get the freshly baked focaccia bread with butter or the gluten free peanut butter & jelly muffin. Both are to die for. Every time you interact with the workers you get a smile and a warm attitude. Absolutely love this place.

Parking shouldn't be a problem. My visit was on a Sunday morning and it was packed, but the wait was not so bad. The egg sandwich is good, but I personally would not order it with sausage again, bc i found the pork sausage to be too dry for me. I do like that the sausage was not greasy, but it was just too dry for me. The kolache pretzel is good with mustard. I think it was the bread pudding muffin, and that was out of this world delicious. The quiche Lorraine is a winner. I will certainly order that again. The jalapeño biscuit is worth a try, very good. The service is efficient and friendly. It's a small venue, so it might be difficult to find a seat at a table. I highly recommend giving this place a try. I'm looking forward to trying more, and I will return.

If you are anywhere near The Heights and your're hungry, and want to support a local business Jane and the Lion is a must. Everything is either made in house or sourced locally. They are also a no waste kitchen, so any vegetables they don't sell during the week, become pickles the next. The food is great and the service outstanding. The pretzels are great, the salad honey pie is amazing. I'm hooked.

Truly one of the best cafe experiences I've ever had in Houston! The staff is so friendly and informative, the food is fresh, and everything was crafted with intention. I got a breakfast plate and the plate was curated down to the herbs. The vibe is also incredibly cozy and welcoming. It's a welcome addition to the Houston cafe scene. The attention to detail and the prioritization of quality is so evident. Incredible!

Super friendly staff, it was popping at 9:50 am on a Sunday morning. Me and my friend got a duffin $6 ish (4.5/5⭐) and strawberry pie $7 ish?? (2/5⭐) Loved the duffin! It is a little crumblier than I would like but a hugeeee muffin The strawberry pie’s bottom crust was very soggy, and felt like it could be a little better. Iced americano was solid. There’s WiFi and both indoors and outdoors sitting area. Plenty of parking in the plaza Very cute interior and a lot of pastries. Would definitely comeback! Would be helpful if prices were all labeled!
